A 2015 BMW 5 Series (F10) 535d with 318,000 km arrived at our workshop. The owner had used the car as a company vehicle across Europe. The six-cylinder diesel engine N57D30 is one of BMW’s best, but 300,000+ km under high load had taken its toll. The engine began consuming over 1 liter of oil per 1,000 km, blue smoke appeared during cold starts, and compression on the third cylinder dropped significantly. It was clear that a full engine overhaul was necessary.
The owner considered selling the car, but after consultation made the right decision — an overhaul is significantly more cost-effective than a replacement engine or a comparable new vehicle.
An engine overhaul includes complete disassembly, inspection, and restoration of all worn components. The result is an engine with restored compression, sealing, and performance — essentially like new, with a full warranty on the work performed.
Overhaul process:
After the overhaul, the engine delivers original compression and performance levels, with no oil consumption and no smoke.

1. When is an overhaul better than replacing the engine?
If the engine block is structurally sound (no cracks or severe damage), an overhaul is typically more reliable and cost-effective than installing a used engine with unknown history.
2. What warranty do you provide?
We provide a 24-month or 30,000 km warranty on all work and parts, whichever comes first.
3. How long does the overhaul take?
For a BMW inline-six diesel, expect 7 to 10 working days, depending on wear and parts availability.
4. Is a break-in period required after the overhaul?
Yes. For the first 2,000 km, we recommend keeping engine speed below 3,500 RPM and avoiding full load. Proper break-in significantly extends engine life.
The 2015 BMW 5 Series F10 535d left our workshop with a fully overhauled N57D30 engine. Performance and compression are restored to near-new levels, oil consumption is eliminated, and the engine runs quietly without smoke. A vehicle on the edge has been given a second life — at a fraction of the cost of a comparable new car.
